Cool Shower by Riphath Cool Shower by Riphath
I believe this one is Liberty, a bald eagle at a Rapor Rehabilitation Center, enjoying a cool mist on a hot day.

The Bald Eagle is a bird of prey found in North America. A sea eagle, it has two known sub-species and forms a species pair with the White-tailed Eagle. Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico. It is found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and old-growth trees for nesting.

The Bald Eagle is an opportunistic feeder which subsists mainly on fish, which it swoops down and snatches from the water with its talons. It builds the largest nest of any North American bird, up to 4 meters (13 ft) deep, 2.5 meters (8.2 ft) wide, and one metric ton (1.1 tons) in weight, and reaches sexual maturity at four years or five years of age.

Bald Eagles are not actually bald; the name derives from an older meaning of "white headed". The adult is mainly brown with a white head and tail. The sexes are identical in plumage, but females are larger than males. The beak is large and hooked. The plumage of the immature is brown.

The Bald Eagle is the national bird of the United States of America and appears on its Seal. In the late 20th century it was on the brink of extirpation in the continental United States. Populations recovered and the species was removed from the U.S. federal government's list of endangered species on July 12, 1995 and transferred to the list of threatened species. It was removed from the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife in the Lower 48 States on June 28, 2007. (via Wikipedia)

Buy a print or a download and I will donate the money I get to the Raptor Center for the care of the brids.

Nice job :>  We have quiet a few regular eagles around here, and got some nice pics of bald and either imature bald, or golden eagles feeding on a wolf carcass, or in the trees near it.

Thank You! You have some wonderful photos! I would love to live on or near a coastline, but as it is I live about as far away from a coast line that is possible... LoL.

Ahhhh they are fun to watch here :>  My dads friend is a taxidermist, and a conservation officer had him do a wolf they had shot out of town, and had left the meat for the birds and called me up when they showed up :>  Was about 4-10 over all, including a single red tailed hawk when I was there, though apparently a few falcons before I got there.

Around here we would get a different mix if we were able to bait raptors in... ravens & crows would be the most plentiful... red tailed hawks, turkey vultures and golden eagles next, then maybe some Mississippi kites & burrowing owls. There are a handful of bald eagles here, but they are rare and you pretty much know where to find them.

Ahhhh, my dads friend is always telling stories of the eagles and stuff coming in for the kills he leaves for them.

Here is one of the eagles at the carcass though it's a bit hidden from view :>  wolfwings1.deviantart.com/art/…

During the summer I went and got about 30 vultures hehe but no eagles.
